Card fees and your POS system: what really matters
June 02, 2026 · DiKAS Team · 4 min read
Card fees apply with every provider – that’s normal, and in the end every business pays them. More important than the bare number is a different question: who sets that fee – you or your POS provider? That’s exactly where the difference lies: with pure SaaS tills the rate is often hard-wired – you can neither negotiate it nor switch without switching your entire till.
How DiKAS does it differently
DiKAS charges no surcharge of its own per card payment and ties you to no payment provider. You connect your own EC terminal via ZVT and settle through your own acquirer/your bank – on your terms, which you can negotiate yourself.
Important and honest: a card payment is never “free” – some acquirer processes it and charges for that. The difference is: with DiKAS you decide the provider and therefore the cost, instead of having a fixed rate imposed on you.
No lock-in
The real lever is freedom. If next year you find a cheaper terminal or a better acquirer, you simply switch – the till keeps running. With bundled SaaS tills, till and payment are inseparable; with DiKAS they aren’t.
Conclusion
With POS systems, don’t look only at the monthly fee, but at the card fees and whether you can influence them. That’s exactly where freedom of choice makes the difference over the years.
